STRENGTHS

1. Laboratory safety and precautionary measures are visibly displayed/posted in each of the different laboratory rooms.

2. A laboratory technician is designated to assist in storing laboratory equipment properly to ascertain their good working condition at all time.

3. Fire extinguisher are visibly installed outside the classrooms within reach ready for use in case of fire.

4. Qualified and competent faculty member is designated to respond and act on problems that may arise in the use of computers in the laboratory and other offices in the campus.

5. Laboratory rooms are equipped with 2 split type wall mounted air-conditioner.

6. Students are actively involved in the upkeep of laboratory equipment and supplies.

7. The university in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology conducts the periodic calibration of laboratory equipment and instruments.

8. The fully equipped multimedia center is provided with teleconferencing facility with a high-speed internet access.

9. An updated IT equipment/software are installed for use during practicum of students.

10.Unserviceable and beyond economic repair equipment is disposed based on COA revised guidelines.

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. To get the desired rating attach more supporting documents showing the following;
a) Science laboratory operations manual for faculty and students
b) Utilization of gas, water and electricity in the science laboratory
c) Stock room for laboratory equipment

2. Construction of a waste disposal facility for hazardous supplies and substance is recommended for consideration.

3. To be at par with other state college and universities, the administration may consider the purchase of “State of the Art” laboratory facilities and refurbishing some laboratory rooms.

4. The shower corner in the chemistry laboratory room need some repair.

A copy of the operations manual for the science laboratory were secured. However, we are still
waiting for the copy of the approved laboratory operations manual.
