Administration

          The organizational set-up of the library of Pangasinan State University Urdaneta Campus is suitable and clearly drawn as reflected below. The College Librarian is appointed by the University President and reports directly to the Campus Executive Director.

       An active Library Committee is present to establish policies, rules, and procedures to attain smooth and organize library operation which mostly benefits the academic community.

 FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CAMPUS LIBRARY BOARD COMMITTEE LIBRARY COMMITTEE

 

            The Library Committee is intended to serve as an advisor, rather than in an administrative capacity.

The Library Committee

                The Library Committee is one of the standing committees in any academic community.  It is an advisory group that discusses, basically, matters of policy concerning the library.  It makes recommendations on resolutions that should be transmitted to the highest governing officers for their information, action, and/or support.

               The Library Committee acts as a communication link between the library and the academic community that it serves.

Composition

            The Library Committee of Pangasinan State University is composed of the Campus Executive Director as the chairman, the Campus Librarian as the secretary, the College Deans, Accountant, Supply Officer, Student Services Coordinator, and the Student Council President as members.

             Each Committee member shall serve for a period of two (2) years. The members shall meet once every school year and the minutes of the meeting shall be presented to the Academic Council.

 Functions and Responsibilities

            As an advisory group, the Library Committee shall:

  • Assists the librarian in the formulation, interpretation, revision, and implementation of library policies.
  • Participates actively in book selection processes, weeding and discharging of outdated books, preparation of library budget, making recommendations on approaches and strategies on the integration of library programs with other academic activities of the different departments.
  • Reviews the library’s 3-year developmental plan and makes recommendations in accordance with the program.

Library Operational Manual

The Pangasinan State University-Library System has a duly approved procedural manual. This manual serves as a guidebook to the internal administration and operational activities of the Pangasinan State University library system. The primary contents of this manual are the expository of the organization structure and its policies concerning library staff and collection management. It guides the library staff for smooth flow of library operations

          The Campus Library, under the leadership of Ms. Angeles B. Gacad, RL, is administered and supervised by a full-time, professional librarian with a Master’s Degree in Library and Informations Science.

          Aside from administering the overall operation of the Campus Library, she also extends her services in the academic community through active participation in the academic and administrative activities of the Campus.
