Best Practices

  1.  Participatory Project Development

The Campus always consider the participation of all stakeholders involved in extension project from planning to evaluation. The end-users(clients), the faculty, students and administrators are always involved in the extension –related endeavors. Several IT students are involved during the preparation and conduct of every extension activity by the department. Each student was asked to let their parent/guardian sign the parental consent before joining each extension activity.

  1. Dynamic and sustainable partnership with LGU, DepEd and Other Agencies

In the conceptualization up to evaluation of extension projects, the Extension services unit continuously work and collaborate with the LGU and other agencies supportive of the extension activities of the campus.

  1. Observance of the technology continuum

The Campus also considers that the technology to be disseminated is the result of research. The result generated from the research station is tried out in the community. This will ensure the adoption and utilization of the technology.

  1. Acquisition and sustenance of externally funded projects

The Campus is able to pursue and sustain externally funded projects.

  1. Sustainable and continuous services to the adopted schools

The faculty members continuously supported and provided assistance in the implementation of the campus extension projects.

  1. Cost-sharing approach

All participants of any project share the cost of implementing the activity. The cost-shared is either monetary or non-monetary. Faculty members of the barangay schools share their time through convening the student-participants.

They also provided the chairs, tables, and venue for the conduct of extension activities.

  1. Availability of a pool of extension consultants

There is a pool of extension consultants on the Campus who are readily available to render extension services upon request. Faculty members also keep improving themselves by attending different seminars and enrolling in short-term courses.

  1. Survey-based and/ or request based extension projects

Extension projects are based on the results of the Training Needs Survey (TNS) results conducted to the School/Community. In case the request comes from the community such as School Principal, Association, and other

Stakeholders, the request is addressed to the Campus Executive Director for proper action. The request forwarded to the Coordinator of Extension, informs experts for training in coordination with the requesting party. A MOA is then prepared specifying the responsibilities of each party.

  1. Monitoring and Evaluation

Faculty members from the IT Department, in collaboration with the extension coordinator, monitor and evaluate each activity. Evaluation is also given to all the participants right after each activity.
