Well-defined Objectives

        As defined by the Commission on Higher Education, an Extension Program/ Project is a set of activities aimed to transfer knowledge, technology, or to provide services to the community in consonance with the programs offered by any higher educational institution.

        As a mandate by the Republic Act Number 8292, also known as the Higher Education Modernization Act of 1997, state universities and colleges (SUCs) are obliged to promote the establishment and development of research and extension centers and to establish guidelines and procedures for participative decision making and transparency with the institution

        The Pangasinan State University adheres to perform its function in “Extension” along with its other three functions—instruction, research, and extension. Extension services and trainings complement the instruction and research functions of the University. PSU conforms that these extension services primarily focus on the transfer of knowledge, information, and technology to improve the quality of life of the rural and urban inhabitants in the localities served by the University.

        The Pangasinan State University Urdaneta City Campus, as an educational institution is mandated to take part in the promotion of socio-economic development of the community. In particular, the Extension Services Program of the campus is focused on  technology transfer,  computer literacy, mathematics, engineering and architectural services, teacher education, livelihood programs and technical consultancies.

        As one of the campuses of the Pangasinan State University, the Urdaneta City Campus is mandated to contribute and take part in the promotion of the socio-economic development of the community. The Urdaneta City Campus carries out extension activities in line with the faculty expertise in accordance with the ten (10) curricular offerings in the Campus.

        In particular, the Campus is focused on technology promotion, literacy and education-related extension projects, computer literacy, financial literacy, engineering and architectural projects, livelihood trainings,  community organization, among others. The Campus Extension Unit of the Campus continues to meet the learning needs of the people in the community who are unable to avail of the formal educational services due to resources constraints. The Unit is committed to provide opportunities for the acquisition of technical skills needed for the enhancement an empowerment of the community folks and make them as productive and responsible members of the economy.

General Objectives

              To provide extension programs / projects and conduct geared towards the socio development of the people in the campus service areas through participative, cost sharing and collaborative approaches.

Specific Objectives of the Extension Services Program of the Campus:

  1. To develop Extension programs aligned to the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the University and the needs of the community clients.
  2. To encourage the active and full participation of the faculty, staff and students in the implementation/conduct of extension – related activities.
  3. To sustain a comprehensive and collaborative delivery of extension programs through partnership with the community and other providers of extension services in the area.
  4. To pursue a holistic and comprehensive training programs appropriate to the needs and requests of the community and other stakeholders.

5. To provide required facilities, expertise, and financial resources to carry out the planned extension programs and activities
