Project 3XTENSIBLE: MalasakIT with a Heart Impact Analysis
Computer-Generated Tests for High School Teachers is an extension project by the College of Computing headed by the College Dean Dr. Frederick F. Patacsil together with Mr. Michael E. Acosta, Department Chair of Information Technology Department, and Ms. Jennifer Parrone, Department Chair of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. This project was launched in the adopted school, Camantiles National High School on December 2016. Training Needs Survey was conducted to the teachers of Camantiles National High School.
This extension project entails the development of a software called QuizGen to allow the creation of multiple-choice assessments such as quizzes and other form of formative and summative assessments from a test bank that teachers create.
The objectives of this extension project are to extend the expertise of the implementing agency to the high school teachers of Camantiles National High School and to provide the high school teacher beneficiaries training in the use of the developed system for effective student evaluation.
After 4 years of monitoring this project, the impact assessment of this project was conducted December 2, 2020 with the help of the Director for Extension Services Mr. Francis Albert T. Argente and the external evaluator Dr. Arnel B. Ocay, faculty at the College of Information and Technology Education at Urdaneta City University.
There were two methods used: interviews for both the implementers of the project and the beneficiaries of the project and answers to the questionnaire entitled Extension Project Evaluation. Eleven (11) teachers of Camantiles National High School answered the questionnaire and were interviewed by the evaluator.
Four areas of the extension project were identified: Relevance, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Impact, and Sustainability.
The area of Relevance includes the capacity of both the beneficiary and the implementing agency to implement the project, whether the projects addresses the needs of the target beneficiaries, and whether the interventions implemented were relevant and appropriate.
The area of Effectiveness includes the achievement of objectives, the achievement of the planned activities, and the problems encountered during implementation of the project.
The area of Efficiency includes determining whether the project was implemented in an efficient manner in terms of time and resources.
The area of Impact includes the results of the project, how much difference did the project make to the lives of the beneficiaries, and the number of people benefitted.
The area of Sustainability determines whether the intended effects of the project was continuous from the start of the project until the time of the assessment.
Based on the data collected, the beneficiaries responded positively regarding the sustainability of the project. The extent of sustainability for the indicators identified has a weighted mean of 4.24, which indicates a Very High extent of sustainability of results.
Based from the Conclusion of the external evaluator, the extension project was relevant to the beneficiaries of the project; this project has achieved its intended outcomes; the project was delivered efficiently; provides positive impacts to the beneficiaries; and have sustainable results.
It was recommended by the external evaluator that the project should also be extended to other schools with the same needs and resources as Camantiles National High School. It was also recommended that the software itself be updated to include other types of tests but still considering the needs of teachers and students. Training for new teachers of the benefitting agency who are not familiar with the system can also be done by the implementing agency.
Computer Generated Test for High School Teachers Impact Assessment
The assessment of the extension project was carried out to see how well the beneficiaries’ needs were addressed. Data was acquired through interviews with extension project beneficiaries and responses to the assessment tool. After gathering data and analyzing the findings, it was shown that the extension project has a positive impact on the beneficiaries, is relevant to the beneficiaries, and that the extension project’s positive impacts have been sustained.
