Research and Extension Activities and Grants
To fulfill “Objective 2. To provide professional development opportunities to faculty members,” research and extension activities and grants are implemented by the University.
To assist the faculty members’ research work, the University has established regular research-related activities. These activities are promulgated and implemented by the Research, Extension, Innovation Department of the University. Examples of such activities are:
Call for Research Proposals
Researchable areas are formulated by the University Research Council. Different priority programs are set for each Research Center. A call for proposal submission on the presented priority programs are announced biannually. The procedure for the call for research proposals is defined under Chapter 3.1 of the Research, Extension, and Innovation (REI Manual).
During the call for research proposals, faculty members submit the proposal paper which contains the rationale, potential impact and expected target dates, user beneficiaries, detailed budget requirement, and the brief profile of proponents.
Research In-House Review
During the biannual in-house proposal review, the research program/project/study leader must present his proposal before the panel members for evaluation. Presentation schedule are organized per Research Center.
University Research and Development Symposium
The symposium is a university-wide activity for faculty/non-teaching researchers. The activity is undertaken to evaluate completed and ongoing research in preparation for presentations in regional, national, and international symposia.
Faculty members are invited to join in the professional category; students are invited to join in the student category together with the help of the faculty. Participants with the best paper presentations are awarded with the Best Paper.
In addition to the aforementioned University-slated activities, incentives and research assistance are provided, primarily aimed to motivate faculty members to venture into research activities. These incentives are stipulated in Chapter V of the University Research, Extension, and Innovation Operations Manual.
