Department Orientations

The department gives orientation for incoming students on school academic regulations and university services at the start of each semester. Similarly, the curriculum and myriad of job opportunities were being discussed, as well as a background on the IT program and subjects for the students. This is to keep track of their subjects and the required pre-requisites and guide them on their program of study in the completion of the IT program. The teachers’ profiles are also included in the orientation. This is done to raise program awareness and create camaraderie among professors, students, and parents. A forum was also held to answer the question of the students, parents on academic policies, course offerrings and other concerns.

Students’ and Parents’ Orientation on Virtual Graduation

On 12 November 2021, a virtual meeting on the Students’ and Parents’ Orientation on Virtual Graduation was conducted for the Information Technology Department of Pangasinan State University Urdaneta City Campus. The virtual meeting was done through the Zoom platform.

The meeting was intended for the 2nd Semester 2020-2021 graduating students of the IT Department and their parents. The department orientation was led by Ms. Pauline Joy Roa and Mr. Ray Anthony Magat, faculty members of the said department and assigned senior class advisers.

The meeting started at 1:00 PM, as is scheduled with the students and their parents. Mr. Michael Acosta, IT Department Chair, also attended the event. The 21 graduating students of the IT Department, together with their parents, were part of the orientation.

Through the meeting, the students and parents were informed about their virtual graduation, as well as other general guidelines to be observed in the conduct of the virtual graduation ceremony.

The virtual orientation ended at around 2PM.

Campus-level Curriculum Review last 2017/2018 involving various stakeholders and Curriculum Summit 2020

As part of the University’s thrust which is to continuously provide quality education, the university involves the stakeholders for the enhancement of curriculum. Periodic curriculum reviews and The Curriculum Summit were centered on reviewing the curriculum of each program offered by the Pangasinan State University to monitor their efficiency and effectiveness.
Curriculum Reviews are done periodically to assess the curriculum if it addresses the current needs of the IT industry. This is ensure that the students have acquired the right skills and provide have better employment. Stakeholders such as industry partners, academe, parents, students and other stakeholders took part of this event to gather insights and possible resolution to address the academe and industry gap.

The curriculum summit was attended by the stakeholders and industry partners of the programs in Pangasinan State University. Mr. Raymund Neil Cerezo, attended the curriculum summit for IT education to make suggestions of the IT curriculum of the whole PSU system. This is to keep abreast with the changes and equip our students the needed knowledge and skills and to bridge the gap between the academe and industry. Mr. Cerezo, suggested some recommendations to enhance the curriculum. The forum was attended by the different program chairs of the University.

Presentation of the Enhanced Curriculum Enhancement to the Campus and University Academic Council

Mr. Michael E. Acosta, program chair of the lead campus delivering IT education, presented the new Enhanced Curriculum of BSIT to the campus and university academic coucil meeting via Zoom on May 12, 2021 at the Campus and University Academic Council Meeting. It was later approved and endorsed to the Board of Regeants. This is to enhance and harmonize the IT curriculum being offered by the university to be at par with the academic institutions and the demands of the IT industry. Thus, providing quality education, the right skills to our students and bettter employment.

Evaluation of the Enhanced Curriculum for CHED Notation

Last June 24-25, 2021, the IT curriculum of the whole university was reviewed and contents noted by the CHED. Ms. Lynette Calimlim Cabasaan, IT Technical Panel of CHED Region1 assesed and gave insights on the curriculum. It was attended by Dr. Frederick F. Patacsil, Dean of the College of Computing, Michael Acosta, program head IT in PSU Urdaneta and Ms. Christine Lourrine S.Tablatin, senior faculty of IT department of the same campus.
