Faculty and Student Research
Pangasinan State University recognizes the rapid advancement and development in the field of Information Technology (IT), and its evolvement as a continuous process. To face this challenge, the University recognizes the need to be responsive to the current needs of the country hence, it is essential and important that the country’s IT capability be continually developed and strengthened to be at par globally.
Faculty members are tasked with discovering and creating new knowledge and sharing that knowledge – as well as their systematic methods of acquiring it – with students. Faculty members who perform research stay at the forefront of their fields and can share their disciplines’ latest developments with students. On the other hand, to ensure the effectiveness of the policy promulgated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), students who take the program are required to undertake a Capstone Project during their senior year. This requirement enforces the student to exhibit his competency in software development in the form of systems application or enterprise resource plan.
For the student to successfully complete the project, involvement of faculty members is expected. Faculty members serve as either advisers or panel members during presentations. Faculty members guide the students by encouraging them to be exposed to the latest trends in their field as they carry out extensive research to produce the solution to the problem they intend to address in their papers. This is a good avenue for them to think critically and analyze the concerned problem from each angle so that they can view it objectively.
