Faculty Evaluation and Class Observation
The Information Technology Department of Pangasinan State University – Urdaneta City Campus continuously conducts faculty evaluation and class observation to assess faculty teaching effectiveness and to facilitate faculty growth and development. Measuring the effectiveness of faculty members is done based on the student evaluation of faculty and class observation of the department chairperson.
Faculty is being evaluated by students in four areas such as commitment, knowledge of subject, teaching for independent learning, and management of learning. Students are also asked to identify the strengths and weaknesses of their instructors. This is being done using a printed evaluation form or the student portal.
Class observation is being done by the chairperson to ensure regular class attendance and adherence to the approved class schedule. Class observation helps the observer assess the performance of the faculty and see if there is a need for peer coaching and mentoring. Before the observation must be done, faculty members need to add their department chairperson and college dean to all the teams created in the Learning Management System called Microsoft Teams.
