Program Monitoring and Review
Curriculum development, review/enrichment and monitoring are dynamic and continuing processes by which an academic institution plans, implements, and evaluates its academic programs in a coherent and logical manner.
The curriculum guides the teaching/learning process by defining what is to be learned, how it is to be learned, how it will be assessed. Through the use of written curriculum documents, the faculty members are able to ensure that every student will encounter a planned, on-going and systematic program. To be highly effective, the written curriculum must be used by the faculty members to make instructional decisions which are focused on the provision of holistic learning opportunities while complying the expected competencies that each student should acquire.
The conduct of a curriculum review and enrichment programs is therefore necessary to ensure that the content and context of the academic programs as definedin the structure curriculum are relevant, dynamic and meaningful given the evolving development trendsin thelabor market,in the different fields of academic disciplines and areas of specialization and the professional aspirations and career expectations of the graduates as professionals.
One of which is a curriculum summit, this where attended by the college deans, departments’ chairs and faculty members together with various stakeholders from various government and non-government agencies.
There is a system for regular program monitoring and review to ensure that the content and context of the academic programs are relevant and dynamic and in conformance to industry needs as well as to accreditingbodies and CHED. It aims to keep program current, improve teaching and learning and ensure that programs contribute to student performance and achievement of the Institution Vision, Mission and Goals.
There is a University-wide office/committee responsible for regular program monitoring and review to include the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs,Director for Curriculum and Instruction, College Dean, Department Chair and Faculty Members and other participation of stakeholders.
VP for Academic and Student Affairs, directs the planning, implementation,coordination, monitoring and evaluation of curricular programs to ensure effective instructional delivery. The VPAA issues memorandum to determine the need for curriculum revision, endorses revised curriculum for BOR approval, issues memorandum for curriculum implementation.
Director for CI, provides direction in the planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of programs, projects and activities in improving and College Dean/Program Chair plans, implements, coordinates,monitors and evaluates the delivery of academic programs. Directs and supervises the preparation of curricula/courses, methods and strategies of teaching. In the review process, the College Dean refers to CHED/TESDA memo requirements, integrate industry standards, benchmark analysis results and recommendations of accrediting institutions,convene core faculty members for the curriculum review specifically on the program structure and contents, and presents the revised curriculum to the Campus Academic Council.
Faculty Members, in consultation with the College Dean/Program Chair with policies and guidelines for the implementation of specific curricular program, faculty members prepare the required syllabi, instructional materials, applies teaching techniques and strategies, administer required students evaluation procedures to ensure effective delivery of program.
Stakeholders (e.g. representative from prospective employers of our graduates and students). Provide valuable inputs for the improvement of the curriculum.
